The Hot Potato Game by Remco is one of the earliest in a long line of "don't be holding the object when time runs out" games by various manufacturers though the years. Probably the most famous was "Spudsie", the bright red smiling potato by Ohio Arts that emitted a loud "ding" when time ran out. The Remco game has a twist in that the hot potato is in one of the four covered pots which are passed between players based on the contents of cards the players draw. My copy came complete but had a broken handle on one of the pots and a barely working timer. Superglue and fiberglass took care of the broken handle and some strategically sprayed WD-40 took care of the timer. Item is style number 816, no date but probably late 1950s.
