My neighbor up the street had this game, Battling Tops by Ideal, and I remember us playing it for hours. Spin the tops with all the speed you can muster and knock the opponents' tops from the ring. My copy has five complete tops and the disk for the sixth. My arena is in green which seems to be extremely rare (the only one I've ever seen). Item number 2340-8 dated 1968, the game was re-issued numerous times including the 1977 Spaceships version shown below. The instructions are from the inside box top of my game.
Other games in my collection that use tops: Tornado Bowl, also by Ideal.
This is the 1977 re-issue Battling Spaceships. Ideal turned it into a board game that one must go around using a spinner. Some spins will cause a battle between the two players or all the players. My game is missing the red mover but is otherwise complete. Cool game, item number 2039-6.
